Rudy's is looking for Full-Time Bench Help/Cake Decorator

We are looking for Full-Time Bench Help/Cake Decorator to prepare a wide range of pastries, cakes, cupcakes, cake pops, cookies, and pies. Baker responsibilities include opening the bakery early in the morning, mixing dough, preparing fillings and glazing pastries. To be successful in this role, you should have work experience as a Baker and be able to decorate cakes using various creative techniques.

 

 

Ultimately, you will make sure we offer fresh and delicious goods to our customers on a daily basis.

Responsibilities:

  • Clean kitchen equipment and tools before and after use 

  • Weigh the flour and other ingredients to prepare the dough 

  • Decorating cakes with glazes, icings, buttercream,   fondant, and edible toppings, like flowers

  • Mix various ingredients to create fillings for cakes and pies (e.g. chocolate ganache, caramel sauce, and fruits)

  • Shape dough to prepare different types of pastries, including croissants, scones, and cookies

  • Prepare custom-made pastries based on customers’ preferences (e.g. birthday cakes, cupcakes, cake pops)

  • Track food supplies and place orders, as needed

Requirements:

  • Experience as a Baker, Pastry Chef or similar role

  • Familiarity with all professional kitchen equipment, including mixers, blenders and dough sheeters

  • Understanding of food safety practices

  • Experience with cake decoration techniques

  • Excellent time-management skills

  • Must be able to multi-task

  • Ability to remain calm and focused in a fast-paced environment

  • Flexibility to work early morning shifts and weekends

  • May be required to work additional hours to meet deadlines for parties and cake order demand

  • Team spirit, with a customer-focused attitude

  • Must be able to engage in conversation with customers to understand customer needs.

  • Certification from a culinary school is a plus

  • Willing to make deliveries on occasion 

  • Must be able to lift up to 75 lbs.

  • Must have reliable transportation

  • High School or GED
